My Thoughts: The 3DS XL

Hey guys.  Sorry that I haven’t been posting nearly as much as I should.  I’ve just been very busy lately.  Anyways, I decided to add a new category to my blog named “My Thoughts”.  This section will include my opinions on anything that’s happening in the video game world.  This post will include what I think about the 3DS XL.  Anyways, let’s get on with the show!

The 3DS XL was just announced a week or so ago during a Nintendo Direct conference.  If you haven’t guessed, the 3DS XL is just an enlarged version of the original 3DS.  The 3DS XL has a more DS Lite look to it rather than the previous glossy look.  It also has a 90% larger screen.  The one feature that I’m really excited about is that the stylus is now on the side of the system rather than the back of it like before.  Also, the 3DS XL has a longer battery life.  It’s battery can now last from 3.5 – 6.5 hours, comparing to the previous 3 – 5 hours.  The new system will also come with a 4 GB  SD card, comparing to the 2 GB one in the original 3DS.  A few news people in Europe got to test out the system and they said that the 3D is much more natural and the 2D looks much better.  Nintendo didn’t change any of the hardware specs on the system, they just made it bigger.  Apparently a bigger system is what we needed.  The 3DS XL will cost $200.00, just $30.00 more than the original.  I personally cannot wait for the 3DS XL and I will hopefully get enough money for it when it launches on August 19.  Check out the video down below for a comparison between the 3DS and the 3DS XL.

New Retro Gaming Console

Hey all you retro gamers out there!  Have you ever wanted to play your old NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games all on one console?  Well now you can!  The Hyperkin RetroN 3 is a brand new retro game console made specifically to play NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games.  This slick console has 3 cartridge slots for each of these types of consoles.  It even comes with two wireless controllers.  Or you can hook up you old SNES, NES, and Sega Genesis controllers and play that way.  This new console is very affordable at $70.00.  However I found one of the consoles on Amazon for about $50.00.  Buy one online if you’re interested!

There Will Not be a 3DS Revision, but a 3DS Successor

Shigeru Miyamoto has just told IGN that Nintendo is very happy with the look of the 3DS and there will be no revision any time soon.  Miyamoto then said that Nintendo isn’t developing a revised console like The Nikkei reported, but they’re working on their next handheld games console.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has guaranteed the fans that Animal Crossing: Jump Out is still in development.  The game is scheduled to release in Japan in the Fall and it is likely we won’t see the game come to the West until next year.

Mass Effect 3 on Wii U will Feature an Enhanced Storyline

EA has just confirmed that Mass Effect 3: Take Earth Back on the Wii U will have an enhanced storyline from the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 version of the game.  We don’t know much of the enhanced content, but hopefully it’s not just the reworked ending that will be DLC on the other platforms.
